FAQ

myDS Account

According to the GDPR, you must be able to change and manage the opt-in and privacy settings at any time. This can be done easily and conveniently at Datasport with the myDS account under 'Privacy'.

If it is "only" because you forgot your password, you can get a new one sent to you by e-mail. However, if you also can't remember your e-mail address, then contact us. We will be happy to assist you.

On the login page, you can click on 'Forgot password' to have a link sent to you by e-mail to receive a new password. If you don't see our e-mail in your inbox after a few moments, please check your spam folder.

When logged in, click on 'personal information' and under 'general' you can edit your address details and those of the people in your account.

Click on your username at the top right side. And click on the 'Logout' button.

The myDS account offers you an archive of your participations and associated services, and it allows you to save your data protection settings and master data for future registrations. If you just want to prevent your previous participations from being visible to everyone on the Internet, you can switch off the public display of your profile yourself at any time under 'Personal information' and 'Data protection'.

However, if you really want to delete your myDS account with us (i.e. you will no longer be able to log in yourself, we will delete the data in your account and close it), please send us an e-mail to '[email protected]'.

Add friends to your account directly in the registration process for the desired event by clicking on 'Add new person'. Now select the appropriate category for the people who would like to attend. For those people who are not attending, leave the selection at "Select desired category". This way, these people will not be registered for the event.

If you don't have an account yet, you can create a new one for your friend and register them.

All results from Datasport events are automatically added to your personal results overview. You can enter the results of other events yourself and display them in your overview. Log in to your account and click on the 'Results' tab. Make sure that all mandatory fields are filled in and the information is correct.

Unfortunately, results cannot be deleted. However, those without a classification can be hidden. All others remain in your results overview. The appropriate setting can be made in your profile under settings.

In accordance with the accepted regulations and also the fact that it is generally recognised that starting and ranking lists are kept at amateur sporting events, we publish the lists necessary for the organisation on behalf of the organisers and in compliance with the data protection declaration. If you have any further data protection claims, please send us the relevant links by email to '[email protected]' so that we can remove them.

To set all persons in the myDS account to private, please tick the corresponding box for each person under 'Privacy'.

Go to your MYDS account under "Personal information", "Data privacy" and deselect "Newsletter subscription".

In the confirmation email, you can upload this via the 'Change registration' link. If the upload does not work, you can send us the certificate by email at '[email protected]'.

Before an event

Registration is done in 5 steps:

  1. Select the desired event in the calendar. If you can't find it at first glance, use our various filters.
  2. Click on register. If you don't yet have an account, create one now.
  3. Select the desired category.
  4. Select the payment method.
  5. Complete the payment process and look for the payment confirmation in your inbox.

As our shop is not available at the moment, we ask you to contact us via e-mail '[email protected]'. We will then provide you with our bank details. Once you have made the payment, it is imperative that you send us a receipt of your payment so that we can send you the voucher details as soon as we have received the payment.

When you register for an event, you can use the voucher as a means of payment during the payment process at the 'Checkout'. If you pay the entire amount with the voucher, you also save on order handling. The voucher can be redeemed flexibly: Remaining amounts do not expire and you can redeem several vouchers at the same time.

Send us an email to '[email protected]' and we will send you your voucher details.

Please check whether the amount has been debited from your account. If so, check where you have sent the registration/payment. Perhaps directly to the organiser? If no money has been debited, then the registration including payment has not been completed correctly. In this case, please try again.

Contact the organiser directly. The organiser will decide on refunds or credit notes for the following year. We do not have the authority to refund money because we are in a contractual relationship with the organiser.

Unfortunately, injuries or illnesses repeatedly occur during the preparation for an athletic goal. To ensure you won't be penalised twice if the worst comes to the worst, it is possible to insure the entry fee.

If your details (name, year or category) are not published correctly, you can contact '[email protected]' directly.

If you have received confirmation of your online registration, then you are by all means successfully registered for the event. Wait a couple of days before you contact the organiser because not all organisers update their start lists on the same regular basis.

In the case of relay/team/couple races, no entry is made in the myDS account because not all the details are available for unambiguously allocating the myDS account. However, after the event you can enter your result in your account yourself.

The team/club entry is not standard when registering online. It can therefore happen that it is not possible to enter this for some events. If your team information is incorrect or missing, you can contact the respective organiser directly or use the online form to contact us.

Contact the organiser directly. This is handled differently from event to event.

Events with the SMS service are indicated in the calendar. Click on "SMS" and make a note of your number. The results will then be sent to your mobile phone on the day of the competition.

You can find an overview of all events under Swiss Runners. You will receive the codes for your Swiss Runners tickets by e-mail a few days before the event. Before the event, check that the e-mail address is saved correctly in your myDS account. If this is not the case, or if you have registered via the organiser and have not provided an email address, please contact us at '[email protected]'.

If you have not received an e-mail with the codes one day before the competition, check which e-mail address you entered when you registered. This is noted on the registration confirmation for online registrations. Then check the relevant email account and especially the spam folder. If an incorrect e-mail address has been entered or the e-mail has not been delivered, please contact us at '[email protected]'.

You can only use the codes once. For this reason, we recommend that you order tickets using a computer and a secure and stable network connection. Once you have entered the code once on the SBB platform, you must finalise the ticket order, otherwise the code will become invalid. If this is the case, please contact us at [email protected].

You can find instructions on redeeming the Swiss Runners tickets here.

Fill out the online form with a corresponding message. We will ensure that the race does not appear in your results overview. The organiser is responsible for making decisions when it comes to entry fee refunds or transferring the registration to the following year. For this purpose, contact him directly.

If you have registered online via Datasport and have taken out cancellation insurance, you can apply to the insurance company for a refund of the entry fee, for example in the event of injury or illness.

The following documents must be submitted to European Travel Insurance ERV:

  1. Confirmation of payment from Datasport, which shows that you took out cancellation insurance.
  2. A detailed medical certificate confirming the illness or injury.

If the request is accepted, you will automatically receive a Datasport voucher to the amount insured. The Datasport voucher enables you or other people to register online free of charge for any event in the Datasport event calendar.

If you prefer a cash payment, please let us know by e-mail ([email protected]) after receiving the voucher and we will refund the voucher amount minus a small fee.

You can submit the documents directly to ERV using the claims form. If you have any questions about cover, please contact the claims department on +41 58 275 27 27 or send an e-mail to [email protected].

During an event

Every time measured - at the start, at a split time, changeover time, lap and, of course, at the finish - is presented directly on the internet. 'Datasport live' works on all browsers, iPads, iPhones, Android devices - in other words, on all popular smartphones. Click on the desired event in the calendar. After the event, the classic ranking list is also available in the calendar.

If your details (name, year of birth or place of residence) are not published correctly, you can contact us directly at '[email protected]'.

To add/merge results, you now have the option to do this in your account. If you are in your account under 'Results', you can click on the icon in the top right-hand corner. Then please follow the instructions.

Please note: upcoming events can only be added to your account later.

Datasport has an app which shows all events with the most important information. You can also find the results here and can add your friends as favourites. This means you can quickly find the split times and results of your friends during an event.

More information

DS live gold is in principle an advancement in timekeeping, whereby the intermediate ranking lists during the race not only show the split times after the passage times in DS live, but show times at every moment of the race, based on the distance covered. This is possible because the positions of the athletes are calculated on an ongoing basis.

Furthermore, DS live gold is a source of communication for your friends and acquaintances. Thanks to GPS tracking and various interfaces, current street view information including personalised race data is automatically shared in the Facebook feed or sent via SMS and e-mail.

Compared to other tracking solutions, we not only display the current position, but continuously calculate the prediction for the next measuring points. This means your friends and family always know where and when they need to be to cheer you on.

To calculate the position, the expected speed, route profile, route characteristics, split times, elapsed time, and tracking data are used. This multitude of parameters renders extremely accurate predictions possible.

Just a few days before the event, Datasport will send you a personal link. You can pass this on to your friends and acquaintances or share it on your social media channels. Clicking on it will take you to your personal page.

The tracking data obtained via the mobile phone is one of several sources used to calculate the position. If the organiser does not explicitly request it, then taking it along is optional. However, it does significantly increase the accuracy of the positioning and the predictions.

You can either buy DS live gold when registering online, or just before the race with a small surcharge. Datasport sends all athletes a special mail a few days before the race. Those who have already bought DS live gold will receive the most important information. Those who have not yet bought DS live gold can still do so now.

As a participant in a DS live gold event, there are two incentives for buying DS live gold:

  1. You will be doing your friends and family a huge favour: they can track your race live on your personal page. They will get predictions for all split times, can see where you are on the route thanks to the map and altitude profile, and will also see it from the athlete's perspective with the aid of Google Street View and Google Earth Web.
  2. In the era of Facebook and Strava, it can also be in your best interests to benefit from these interfaces. Split times and current street view information including personalised race data can be automatically shared live. What's more, after the race the GPX file including altitude difference is available for up/downloading or can be uploaded automatically.

Apart from the share option and the possibility to up/download, it makes no difference to you whether you run your race with or without DS live gold. Your friends, however, will miss out as there will be no personal page on which they can track your race live.

If your personal link is not known, they can find you in the «normal» DS live (www.datasport.com/live) under «Search» and track your race.

Usually at major events or those that last several hours where the safety aspects are paramount. Thanks to DS live gold, the organiser always knows how many athletes are where or which athletes have lost their way.

After the event

You have registered online via Datasport and taken out cancellation insurance, so you can apply to the insurance company for a refund in the event of injury or illness, for example.

The following documents must be submitted to Europäische Reiseversicherung ERV:

- Confirmation of payment from Datasport indicating that cancellation insurance has been taken out
- A detailed medical certificate confirming the illness or injury

If the application is accepted, you will automatically receive a Datasport voucher for the insured amount. The Datasport voucher allows you or another person to register online free of charge for any event in the Datasport event calendar.

If you prefer a cash payment, please let us know by email ([email protected]) after receiving the voucher and we will refund the voucher amount minus a small fee.

You can submit the documents directly to ERV using the claims form.

If your details (name, year of birth or place of residence) are not published correctly, you can contact us directly by e-mail at '[email protected]'.

Then simply return it to us by post. Please use a padded envelope or cardboard envelope and send us the chip by registered post to the following address:

Unfortunately, results cannot be deleted. However, those without a ranking can be hidden. All other results will remain in your results overview. You can make the corresponding setting in your profile in the settings.

In accordance with the accepted regulations and also the fact that it is generally recognised that starting and ranking lists are kept at amateur sporting events, we publish the lists required for the organisation on behalf of the organisers and in accordance with the data protection declaration. If you have any further data protection claims, please contact the organiser (search for event, then select Privacy) and explain these in more detail so that they can be clarified with you.

To set all persons in the myDS account to private, go to your myDS account under 'Privacy' and click 'Should the profile be displayed in the athlete search?'
