Started in 1983 as a small company – today the leading sports event platform in Switzerland. Our story stands for genuine commitment: for organizers, for athletes, for unforgettable moments in sports.
1983
FoundingClaudio Galasso founds Datasport Galasso. From the beginning, the young company convinces with innovative spirit, speed and reliability — at athletics events and gymnastics festivals.
1984
Parallel founding CASTDaniel Geissmann founds CAST (Computer Assisted Sport Timing). Originating in the environment of the Grand Prix Bern, numerous running events in Switzerland soon trust CAST's timekeeping.
1988
Technology MilestoneIntroduction of the first fully electronic timing solution — for more precise results and greater reliability at every event.
1992
Merger to Datasport AGDatasport and CAST combine their activities. This creates today's DATASPORT AG — and thus the leading IT service provider for sporting events in grassroots and mass sports in Switzerland.
1998
Online Registration LaunchedDigital participant registration is being introduced — less administrative effort for organizers, more convenience for athletes.
2005
National RecognitionDatasport becomes the official timekeeping partner of several nationally significant sporting events and thereby strengthens its leading position in Switzerland.
2010
Mobile ServicesReal-time tracking and live results on any device — experience events live, no matter where you are.
2012
Acquisition by SwisscomDatasport becomes part of the Swisscom Group and thereby receives tailwinds for further digital development — while remaining active as an independent brand.
2016
Cloud InfrastructureMost modern cloud architecture for larger events, faster result processing and maximum system stability even under peak load.
2019
Independent againThomas Bachofner and Manfred Herz take over Datasport from the Swisscom Group. Since then, the company has been operating independently again — with entrepreneurial passion and short decision-making processes.
2020
New Participant PlatformA central platform with seamless registration, secure payment and personal dashboard — more modern, faster, clearer for all participants.
2023
40 Years of DatasportFour decades of innovation in the service of sport — thousands of events accompanied, millions of finish line crossings enabled. An anniversary that we celebrate together with our organizers and athletes.
