When you wear clothing that matches the weather, training is twice the fun and you'll stay healthy.

A few weeks ago, we were still running and cycling around in shirts and shorts. The pleasant temperatures and almost non-existent rainy days made this easy for us. Now the situation has changed. If you train in the morning or evening, you’re not only caught up in the darkness, but also the increasingly colder temperatures. And even if you can arrange to train during the day, you need to give much more thought to what you should wear. But what is needed at which temperature? What if it starts raining, too? Here you’ll find proven clothing tips for all kinds of weather:

Now you know what to wear when. With the following tips we’d like to help prepare you for the upcoming winter:

Before training:

  • Go with the weather. Be prepared to postpone your training to the next day or do something extensive instead of an intensive unit if the roads are covered in snow or ice.
  • When the temperatures are icy, prepare your muscles and joints for your upcoming training inside where it’s warm and dry.

During training:

  • Only wear layers made from functional fibres so that moisture is wicked to the outer layer.
  • Use lights or luminous equipment in the dark to ensure you can be seen.

After training:

  • Make sure you never freeze. Remove your sweaty clothes as quickly as possible and put on something dry.
  • You might sweat less in colder temperatures, but don't underestimate your fluid loss and fill up your fluid reserves after training.
